Happy To Meet You!

About Me

Hello! My name is Emily Sharp. I have been a counselor for 7 years and think it is the best career in the world. I look forward to working with students every day! I play a positive and proactive role at Riverside Elementary in helping all students succeed.

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2007. I graduated from the University of Utah with a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology with an Emphasis in School Counseling in 2016. I am a Utah licensed teacher for 1st-8th grade and counselor for K-12th grade.

My husband and I have been happily married for 17 years. We have three resilient kids: two daughters and one son. We love to spend time hiking, swimming, playing games, watching movies, and traveling to new destinations whenever possible!

A Counselor's Role

An Elementary School Counselor performs the vital role of setting the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental School Counseling Program, counselors work as a team with parents, school staff, and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help all children to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.
