About MeHello! My name is Emily Sharp. I have been a counselor for 7 years and think it is the best career in the world. I look forward to working with students every day! I play a positive and proactive role at Riverside Elementary in helping all students succeed.
I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education in 2007. I graduated from the University of Utah with a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology with an Emphasis in School Counseling in 2016. I am a Utah licensed teacher for 1st-8th grade and counselor for K-12th grade. My husband and I have been happily married for 17 years. We have three resilient kids: two daughters and one son. We love to spend time hiking, swimming, playing games, watching movies, and traveling to new destinations whenever possible! A Counselor's RoleAn Elementary School Counselor performs the vital role of setting the tone for developing the knowledge, attitudes, and skills necessary for children to become healthy, competent, and confident learners. Through a comprehensive developmental School Counseling Program, counselors work as a team with parents, school staff, and the community to create a caring climate and atmosphere. By providing education, prevention, early identification and intervention, school counselors can help all children to achieve academic success and reach their full potential.
